Richard Harris began working at Brinsons Chartered Surveyors in 1999. The firm was founded in Caerphilly by Mr Evan Brinson in 1900. In 1968, Mr Roderick Brinson took over as sole Principal and in 1992 expanded onto the High Street in Caerphilly, where Richard Harris joined the team in 1999 as a Surveyor.
On the retirement of Mr Roderick Brinson in 2006, Richard became one of the Directors of Brinsons Ltd.
Brinsons acquired Fairfax & Co Chartered Surveyors, a well respected firm of land agents in Cowbridge, thus establishing a new "Brinsons Fairfax" office in Cowbridge focussed on commercial and land agency work under Richard Harris.
The Cowbridge team relocated to a refurbished showroom at 67 High Street to develop a new residential estate agency.
The well-established, Cowbridge based firm of Estate Agents and Chartered Surveyors "David Birt & Co", a niche residential sales agency specialising in exclusive, high value properties in the Vale of Glamorgan, was acquired to expand its residential sales agency in Cowbridge. The new name of "Brinsons & Birt" was formed.
The firm acquired "Bute Chartered Surveyors" which is a niche Practice, specialising in the valuation of Medical Centres. This acquisition has considerably strengthened the range and quality of professional services offered by the firm.
In April 2020, Richard Harris became the owner and Managing Director of Brinsons Birt together with Ingram Evans Care.
The firm welcomed David Lakin as a Director and the decision to move forward and rebrand into Harris & Birt to increase the capabilities of our teams. This will carry a clear focus on high quality, traditional service with modern technological methods.
Continuing our growth in the South Wales property sector by incorporating the highly respected firm of Ingram Evans Care & Co within our brand. Ingram Evans has specialised in home survey and valuation work for over 30 years and the expert team will now continue to develop those areas of work within the organisation.
